Psilocybe semilanceata
Psilocybin is a hallucinogen and is the most active component of”magic mushrooms,” Psilocybe semilanceata, and cyanescens. The mushrooms are often dried and powdered but are occasionally eaten refreshingly. Though no structural anomalies have been reported connected with psilocybin exposure in human pregnancy or animal experiments, then use may be associated with acute toxicity and is not advised during pregnancy.
Pregnant women should avoid hallucinogens under most conditions. A comprehensive antenatal ultrasound is recommended after first-trimester vulnerability if not already offered as part of routine antenatal care in light of the limited available information concerning the fatal effects of usage in human pregnancy.
